Membership questions answered

Everything you need to know before joining — costs, requirements, and what membership actually includes.

How much does it cost to join a Wisconsin sportsmen's club?
Ashippun Sportsmen's Club keeps dues intentionally low to stay accessible. Regular membership is $15 per year for adults 18 and older, and junior membership is $1 per year for members under 18. Dues are due by March 31 each year. Members are also expected to meet a $20 annual ticket obligation — meaning you either sell or purchase club picnic and raffle tickets each year.
Do I need a sponsor to join?
Yes — new members must be sponsored by a current member in good standing. This is a common requirement at most sportsmen's clubs and helps maintain the welcoming character of the club. The easiest way to find a sponsor is to attend a monthly member meeting. Members are friendly and the process is straightforward for anyone genuinely interested in joining.
Can I join if I'm not from Ashippun?
Absolutely. Membership is open to anyone in the surrounding community — Oconomowoc, Watertown, Beaver Dam, Waukesha County, Jefferson County, Dodge County, and beyond. Many members drive in from the broader Lake Country and southeastern Wisconsin area for league nights and club events. The club is welcoming to anyone who supports safe, responsible shooting sports.
Are junior memberships available for youth?
Yes. Junior memberships are available for anyone under 18 at $1 per year. Youth participation in trap shooting is strongly encouraged, and the club supports involvement from younger community members. Trap shooting is one of the safest and most beginner-friendly shooting sports — a great introduction for young people interested in the outdoors and marksmanship.
Do I need to be an experienced shooter to join?
Not at all. The club welcomes people at every skill level, including complete beginners. Many current members started with little or no shooting experience. Membership gives you access to league participation where you can learn alongside experienced shooters in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.
What does a club membership include?
Membership gives you access to trap shooting leagues across the Summer, Fall, and Winter seasons; participation in club events including the annual picnic and fisheree; eligibility to rent the clubhouse for personal use at $75 per use; monthly dinner meetings on the second Monday of each month; and a voice in club decisions as an active member. The club has been a consistent part of southeastern Wisconsin's sporting community for over 85 years.
